Even though I've been paying off my credit card every month since I got it in 1988, I'm going to stop using it whenever possible, in protest that the interest is approaching 30%. If you feel don't like the way the credit card companies are treating us, please join me in declining to use your credit card whenever possible. Also, please feel free to post that you're doing so, and encourage other people to join in!
Repost: I'm hereby declining to use my credit card whenever possible, in protest that the interest rates are so horrible. If you feel the same way, please join me in my credit card boycott, and please re-post this to invite our friends to do the same!

Just got a call from the vet. RunsWithMoose's DNA tests came in:
25% German Shepherd 25% Lab 25% Husky
Will have to see the paperwork to figure out the rest.
The vet thinks the Lab sends her sniffing into the woods, and the Husky doesn't come back until she's good and ready!

Could someone please help me with a fence gate?
The fence people repaired it last winter after the tree came down on it. But when the ground thawed in spring the posts moved enough so the gate doesn't close. It's been held shut with a bungee cord all summer, and I'd like to fix it so it can be used again. Bringing the fence people out again will cost me lots of money, since it's been so long since they fixed it.
All you'd need to do is hold the gate so I can play with the hinges and bolts for a bit.
If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.

This weekend I went to my niece's elementary school play. She was a flower and a snail, and was the most wonderful kid on the stage. :-)

Yesterday after posting, the across the street neighbor said that she'd seen at least 2 coyotes in the last week a few streets over. Also, the retired couple who we meet walking every morning said they saw a lot of coyote scat up by the church.
Then last night RunsWithMoose barked at something outside, starting at about 12:30, and lasting until I got up and fed invisible cat at 5:30.
BTW, invisible cat came right over when I put out the food. S/he's still skittish, but is appreciative of the kibble.
RunsWithMoose and I took our walkies around the neighborhood, and she kept looking at people's back yards. When we got back we played for a bit in our back yard, and every time the wind came out of the southwest she stopped and sniffed the air.
Yep, definite critter alert.

RunsWithMoose wanted to go out at 5:05 this morning. So as I do every time she needs to go out in the dark, I pulled on my coat and boots, put on my headlamp, and grabbed the baseball bat. Yes it's a ritual, but it makes me feel better.
We went out into the fenced-in back yard, but she didn't go right away. Just sniffed the air as she trotted back and forth.
As I swept the light around, the beam went across a pair of glowing eyes.
Coyote.
It was crouching in the garden, on the other side of the fence.
And my baby was right next to it.
I yelled and ran up, bat raised in one hand and arm flailing.
It got the message.
It ran from the back of the house to the front, crossed the road, and kept going.
Grrr. I have no use for coyotes.
Now both RunsWithMoose's and my adrenaline are pumping. The walk should be interesting this morning.
